The prepaid SIM card for Sri Lanka is a practical option for using your existing world phone as a prepaid Sri Lanka cell phone while you’re in the country at a better rate than you’d pay for a Sri Lanka cell phone rental. It’s also a trouble-free ticket to using the same options that the Sri Lankans themselves use—the local Sri Lankan cell phone system. The SIM chip, combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone, helps you keep the lines of communication open without being burdened by high international roaming surcharges applicable when you use your “home” SIM card abroad. You’ll likewise enjoy the benefit of SMS text messaging, GPRS, voicemail, a local cell phone number in Sri Lanka, and FREE talk time for the first 30 seconds of all incoming calls. The prepaid feature gives you complete control over your costs, and with our low calling rates, having a cell phone in Sri Lanka is affordable for all. At just $0.25 per minute, you can look forward to actually giving your family, friends, and colleagues the attention they deserve on international calls. Access to customer service from your Sri Lanka cellular phone is available 24 hour a day, so you’ll always have assistance with any unexpected issues or questions about your calls. No yearly contract, monthly charges, or credit check is involved.

Your Sri Lanka SIM Card will require a SIM-unlocked GSM cell phone that supports the 900 frequency. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for your consideration. Please click here for more information.

Adding Airtime

Your Sri Lanka SIM card includes an initial airtime voucher of RS $800 ($8.25 USD), which you may load once you arrive in Sri Lanka. Additional airtime is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers, commonly called a Kit Charge card. Airtime vouchers are available locally at most tabac shops, convenience stores and petrol stations throughout Sri Lanka. These vouchers are currently available in the following denominations:

  • 400 RS ($4 USD)
  • 700 RS ($7 USD)
  • 1000 RS ($10 USD)

To add the voucher, simply scratch off the gray protective layer to reveal your 16 digit voucher code. Then dial 123 from followed by the 16 digit voucher code and press [SEND]. When typed into the keypad of your international cell phone, the voucher will credit your Sri Lanka SIM card balance with the respective Sri Lanka rupee denomination you purchased.

To check your airtime balance, simply dial 456 from your Sri Lanka cellular phone and follow the voice prompts.

Remember you do not need to purchase another Sri Lanka SIM card when your airtime balance is depleted; you only need an airtime voucher.

Service Life

Every time you top-up your Sri Lanka SIM card, the validity of your SIM card will be extended for 180, 270 or 365 days, depending on the denomination of the top up card (RS 400, RS 700, RS 1000, respectively). If your Sri Lanka SIM card account remains dormant for an additional 60 days, your SIM card will automatically be recycled and any remaining airtime will be forfeit.
