If you plan on visiting Norway any time soon, don’t take off without a prepaid SIM card. The Norway SIM card provides a simple, convenient, and affordable way for any traveler to make and receive those all-important calls while abroad.

The prepaid SIM card for Norway is a practical option for using your existing world phone as a prepaid Norway cell phone while you’re in the country at a better rate than you’d pay for a Norway cell phone rental. It’s also a trouble-free ticket to using the same options that the Norwegians themselves use—the local Norwegian cell phone system. The SIM chip, combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone, helps you keep the lines of communication open without being burdened by high international roaming surcharges applicable when you use your “home” SIM card abroad. You’ll likewise enjoy the benefit of SMS text messaging, e-mail, GPRS high speed data capability, voicemail, a local cell phone number in Norway, and FREE incoming calls. The prepaid feature gives you complete control over your costs, and with our low domestic and international calling rates and per second billing intervals for each call, having a cell phone in Norway is affordable for all. Access to customer service from your Norway cellular phone is available 24 hour a day, so you’ll always have assistance with any unexpected issues or questions about your calls. No yearly contract, monthly charges, or credit check is involved.

Your Norway SIM Card will require a SIM-unlocked GSM cell phone that supports the 900 and 1800 frequencies. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for your consideration. Please click here for more information.

Adding Airtime

Your Norway SIM card includes an initial airtime voucher of 150 kr ($22 USD) which you may load once you arrive in Norway. Additional airtime is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers, also called reload cards, not another SIM card. Airtime vouchers are available in Norway at local tabac shops, convenience stores and authorized Startpakke dealers. These airtime vouchers are available in the following denominations:

  • 150 kr ($22 USD)
  • 250 kr ($36 USD)
  • 500 kr ($72 USD) Note: You will receive an additional 50 kr ($12 USD) in airtime when you purchase this reload voucher.

To add the voucher to your SIM card, simply scratch off the gray protective layer to reveal your 13 digit voucher number. Dial 1999 followed by the 13 digit voucher code and the * key. Confirm by typing the number 1 on your phone. The voucher will credit your Norway SIM card with the respective denomination that you purchased.

To check the current balance of your Norway SIM card, simply dial *100# and press [SEND]. Your balance will appear on the screen of your GSM world cell phone.

Remember you do not need to purchase another Norway SIM card when your airtime balance is depleted; you only need a Norway recharge voucher! Your incoming calls are always completely free even when you run out of airtime.

Service Life

If you do not top-up your Norway SIM card within 12 months of initial use, your SIM card and phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime will be forfeit. Every time you add additional airtime to your Norway SIM card, the validity of your Norway SIM chip will be extended for 12 months from that date.
