International calling rates are charged per minute for international outgoing calls from your Italy SIM card while you are in Italy. All incoming calls regardless of where they originate are completely free with your Italy TIM SIM card.

Adding Airtime
To add airtime to your Italy SIM card, you will need to purchase RICARICard airtime vouchers. These vouchers are available at most convenience stores, tabac shops and petrol stations, located throughout Italy. They are available in 3 EUR ($3.87 USD), 25 EUR ($32 USD) and 50 EUR ($64 USD) denominations.
To add the voucher to your SIM card balance simply:
- Scratch off the silver covering to reveal the 16 digit code
- Call 4916 from your Italy cell phone
- Select option 2 for the recharge option
- Select option 1 for the RICARICard recharge option
- Enter the 16 digit code
- The number will be repeated back to you
- Press 8 to confirm
Do not purchase another TIM SIM card when your airtime balance is depleted.
Service Life
Every airtime voucher extends the validity of the SIM card for 12 months from the date of the recharge, plus one month in which you may only receive calls. If you do not top-up your Italy SIM card within that period, the SIM card and phone number will expire and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeit. Please note: Incoming calls are NOT allowed in the Vatican.
