If you plan on visiting French Polynesia any time soon, don’t take off without a prepaid SIM card. The French Polynesia SIM card provides a simple, convenient, and affordable way for any traveler to make and receive those all-important calls while abroad.

The prepaid SIM card for French Polynesia is a practical option for using your existing world phone as a prepaid cell phone in Tahiti , Bora Bora, and The Marquesas while there at a better rate than you’d pay for a French Polynesia cell phone rental. It’s also a trouble-free ticket to using the same options that the French Polynesians themselves use—the local French Polynesian cell phone system. The SIM chip, combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone, helps you keep the lines of communication open without being burdened by high international roaming surcharges applicable when you use your “home” SIM card abroad. You’ll likewise enjoy the benefit of SMS text messaging, a local cell phone number in French Polynesia, and FREE incoming calls. The prepaid feature gives you complete control over your costs, and with our low domestic and international calling rates billed in just 20 second increments, having a cell phone in French Polynesia is affordable for all. Access to customer service from your French Polynesia cellular phone is available 24 hour a day, so you’ll always have assistance with any unexpected issues or questions about your calls. No yearly contract, monthly charges, or credit check is involved.

Your French Polynesia SIM Card will require a SIM-unlocked GSM cell phone that supports the 900 frequency. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for your consideration. Please click here for more information.

Adding Airtime

Your SIM card includes an initial airtime balance of 3267 Fcfp ($32 USD) that is preloaded (includes a 318 Fcfp refill card). Additional airtime is available through the purchase of a Vini refill card, not another SIM card, in Tahiti. The refill vouchers cost 4400 Fcfp ($43 USD) and provide 40 minutes of local outgoing calls within the French Polynesian region. These vouchers are available locally at all Vini authorized resellers located throughout Tahiti Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Bora Bora and The Marquesas.

To add the voucher, simply scratch off the gray protective layer to reveal your voucher code. From your cellular phone dial 222, select option 1 and follow the instructions. When typed into the keypad of your international cell phone, the voucher will credit your local SIM card the respective 4400 Fcfp refill you purchased.

Simply dial 223 to find out your remaining airtime balance.

Remember not to purchase another SIM card when your airtime balance is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher. Incoming calls are always free, even when you run out of airtime.

Service Life

Your initial call credit will expire within 60 days upon arrival. Every top-up will extend the validity of the French Polynesia SIM card and carry over any remaining airtime balance for another 60 day period, up to a maximum of 180 days. If you do not recharge your SIM card within the validity period, your mobile phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase a new SIM card. The initial 60 day period begins the day you arrive in French Polynesia and start using your cell phone.
