If you plan on visiting Brazil any time soon, don’t take off without a prepaid SIM card. The Brazil SIM card provides a simple, convenient, and affordable way for any traveler to make and receive those all-important calls while abroad.

The prepaid SIM card for Brazil is a trouble-free option for using your existing world phone as a prepaid Brazil cell phone while you’re in the country at a better rate than you’d pay for a Brazil cell phone rental. The SIM chip, combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone, helps you keep the lines of communication open without being burdened by high international roaming surcharges applicable when you use your “home” SIM card abroad. You’ll also enjoy the benefit of BRL 5 (approx. $2.86 USD) of starter airtime credit, SMS text messaging, voicemail, a local phone number in Brazil, and free incoming calls.  What’s more, you’ll have 24 hour a day access to customer service simply by dialing *144 from your Brazil cellular phone.  No yearly contract, monthly charges, or credit check is involved.

Your Brazil SIM Card will require a SIM-unlocked GSM cell phone that supports the 1800 frequency. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for your consideration. Please click here for more information.

Adding Airtime

Your Brazil SIM card has an initial airtime balance of BRL 5 (approx. $2.86 USD). Additional airtime credit is available through the purchase of airtime vouchers also called reload codes, not another SIM card, in Brazil. Airtime vouchers are available in 6 denominations: R5, R15, R25, R35, R50 and R100. These airtime vouchers are available in Brazil at local convenience stores, TIM shops and authorized dealers.

To add the voucher, simply scratch off the grey protective layer to reveal your voucher code. When typed into the keypad of your international cell phone, the voucher code will credit your Brazil SIM card the respective denomination you purchased.

Remember not to purchase another SIM card when your airtime credit is depleted; you only need a recharge voucher! Your incoming calls are always free, even when you run out of airtime!

Service Life

If you do not recharge your Brazil SIM card within 4 months, your mobile phone number will be partially blocked and you will only be able to receive incoming calls for another month. After 5 months, your Brazil cell phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase a new local Brazil SIM card. The 5 month period starts the day you arrive in Brazil and start using your GSM world cell phone.
