  • A local cell phone number in Afghanistan
  • FREE incoming calls from anywhere in the world
  • SMS (Text Messaging)
  • No yearly contract, monthly charges or credit check

If you plan on visiting Afghanistan any time soon, don’t get caught without a prepaid SIM card. The Afghanistan SIM card is the simplest, most convenient and affordable way for any traveler to make and receive those all-important calls while abroad.

The prepaid SIM card for Afghanistan is a trouble-free option for using your existing world phone as a prepaid Afghan cell phone while you’re in Afghanistan at a better rate than you’d pay for an Afghan cell phone rental. The SIM chip, combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone, helps you keep the lines of communication open without being burdened by high international roaming surcharges applicable when you use your “home” SIM card abroad. You’ll also enjoy the benefit of $30 USD of starter airtime credit, SMS text messaging, a local cell phone number in Afghanistan, and free incoming calls. What’s more, you’ll have 24 hour a day access to customer service simply by dialing 151 from your Afghanistan cellular phone. No yearly contract, monthly charges, or credit check is involved.

Your Afghanistan SIM Card will require a SIM-unlocked GSM cell phone that supports the 900 frequency. If you do not have your own international cell phone, we have several models available for your consideration. Please click here for more information.

Airtime Rates

Domestic calls

All domestic rates are listed per minute for outgoing calls within Afghanistan using the prepaid Afghan Wireless SIM card while you are traveling in Afghanistan. All incoming calls on your Afghanistan cell phone regardless of where they originate are FREE.

Type of Call Airtime Rate
Afghan Wireless Cell Phones $0.10 / minute
Other Afghan Cell Phones $0.15 / minute
Land (Fixed) Lines $0.15 / minute

Adding Airtime

To add airtime to your local Afghanistan SIM card, you will need to purchase airtime vouchers. You will find these reload cards at most convenience stores, tabac shops and gas (petrol) stations around Afghanistan.

To add the voucher to your SIM card, simply scratch off the grey protective layer to reveal your voucher code and follow the instructions on the airtime voucher.

Remember that you do not need to purchase another SIM card when your airtime credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher! Your incoming calls are always free, even when you run out of airtime.

Service Life

Your Afghan Wireless SIM card has an unlimited service life if you continuously use your SIM card once every 6 months. If you do not recharge or use your SIM card within 6 months, your Afghanistan cell phone number will be recycled and any remaining airtime credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase another SIM card. The 6 month period starts the day you arrive in Afghanistan.
